So far, I vote for Innsbruck. It has everything cultural and outdoors nature that you want, and it seems so much easier. Plus, I want to hear about you riding your bike up the Alps. Maybe even some skiing in your future?
There's a long, scenic bike path along the Inn River. I'm not sure how far it goes, but in Europe these trails are all interconnected, so I imagine there lots of destinations to ride to. I'm not signing up for a climb up an alpine mountain, but the ride to the Brenner Pass and Italy is about a 2500 ft climb. That's enough of an ascent for me, plus it gets me to Italy! Skiing? Maybe. Tobogganing? Definitely.
